Annual Meeting of the World Table Hockey Association
WASHINGTON, DC, Saturday, December 15, 2018
Annual Meeting. The Board of Directors of World Table Hockey Association from the west coast to the east coast of Canada and the United States met by teleconference to review accomplishments and achievements, financial and legal matters, and to plan and execute new initiatives for the remainder of this and the next fiscal years, 1 September to 31 August, 2018-19, and 2019-20.
The WTHA reached new milestones for table hockey on its journey armed with the mission to educate, preserve, develop and promote table hockey…one person, one community, one nation at a time…worldwide!
Milestone Reached and Achievements include:
- August 3, 2018, “registration for application of [WTHA’s word-mark] trade-mark has been allowed,” Innovation, Sciences, and Economic Development Canada.
- Significance: The first registered trademark (wordmark) of a table hockey association in Canada.
- October 1, 2018, released to the public, table hockey’s first request for proposal (RFP).
- While the RFP affords communities in the USA and Canada the opportunity to bid, be selected to host, and a commitment by the WTHA to operate a table hockey Festival, Exhibition, and Championships (FEC) for three consecutive years, 2019-22, the significance is a domino effect of opportunities.
- Significance: WTHA events present a new opportunity to infuse outside tourist dollars and media attention to host communities. Taxes collected on tourist dollars would go towards infrastructure and services for that community.
- Significance: Another significance is that WTHA events also present the opportunity for table hockey to develop an eco-system enjoyed by other sports and entertainment industries by providing table hockey manufacturers and craftsmen an opportunity to showcase, market and sell their products and services directly to and establish a relationship with their target audience.
